On November 2, 2017 Lance Hunter, CEO of Hodges Warehouse + Logistics, and Shane Parish, Chief Operations Officer, attended the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association Appreciation Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Winfrey Hotel in Hoover, Alabama. This event focused on workforce development initiatives with speakers Fitzgerald Washington, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Labor, Jeff Lynn, Executive Vice President of the Alabama Community College System and Lee Hammett.

Secretary Washington gave a dramatic review of the tremendous progress the state has made in increasing jobs and reducing unemployment. This has been accomplished with targeting training and job matching programs from the Department of Labor and economic growth fueled by efforts of the Commerce Department. Lance Hunter indicated that the combined efforts of these two departments have made a significant difference in the lives of thousands of people living in Alabama.

Alabama has a major impact on the automotive industry and the numbers show it. Alabama produced more than 1 million cars and light-trucks in 2016.
